Variety Is The Spice Of Life

“Variety is the Spice of Life.”  This is one of my favorite quotes, and how true it is.

Grab you a piece of “spice cake” and let’s take a little journey.

spices2

Is life not much better when it is filled with a "variety" of the things we like? Of course it is. It is

inevitable that some things in your life will go wrong, so it is nice to have other things that you still enjoy to fall back on. Like investing, they always say, "Do not put all of your eggs in one basket." The same goes for our personal lives. The way to be happy is to fill our lives with a "variety" of things that make us happy.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord. Proverbs 8:35

“Life is full of experiences and lessons,  Life is the best teacher….sometimes we have to go through the same lessons again, until we finally learn!”  NancyRosalina

spices If you have a variety of things that make you happy, I believe this decreases the risk of becoming unhappy if just a few things go wrong. So, do not risk your happiness by not broadening your horizons and not finding and doing a variety of things that you enjoy.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life": in thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Psalm 16:11

“Some life experiences are sour and sometimes we can become bitter after a sour experience!”  “Some life experiences are sweet, and some are full of spicy flavor!”  NancyRosalina

Before I move on, I want to THANK all of you for supporting me as I begin to go back to work!  Several of you have emailed or commented…asking me…..How’s your Job at VS going?????  Well…this is where the “Variety Is The Spice Of Life” comes in……………

I have said all that, to let y’all know…..my life sure has been spicey the last couple of years, there have been times the spices have just about made me sick!  But, there have been some sweet savory times as well!   There are still some “spices”…that just cause great sadness, and….I could just about get bitter. Spices I have never discussed here and never will!  But, I’m moving on, and I refuse to let some “spices”  bother me any longer!  I’m making some “spice” changes in my life, and one of those “spices”,  as you all know was a little job at VS,  but once again the “spices” took over and I ended up with a job at Belk!   For those that don’t know…Belk is a upper end department store.  Like, Dillard’s for example.

Do I like it????    YES!!!! I LOVE it!!!!!  Love the store, the managers, the gals I work with!  It is the perfect “spice” for my life at this time!  VS would have  just been  a little too spicey for me….LOL ;)

So what do you feel about the Spices of Life????  How do you handle life when it gets a little too spicey for you???

I’ll visit with y’all soon, but now, I’m off to watch Dancing With The Stars…….That Donny Osmond sure is “spicey”….. LOL :)

I’ll leave you with a great little Recipe For Life poem !

Recipe For Life~ By Gorgene Freedman

Sow your days with worthy deeds...
bestow all the fruits of life.
Have faith the size of the mustard seed...accept the bitter herbs of strife.
Drink of the vine with friend and foe...break bread with the lonely and meek.
Do all of these things and you shall harvest...the kingdom that you do so seek.

A No Fuss Low Cost Southern Fall Weekend

I’m cutting back a bit this Fall on everything….I’ve showed y’all my No Fuss Fall decor, and decor is

not the only way I’m simplifying my Season this Fall!   I’m not going to go to as many Fall Festivals this year, {but i will go to a couple, just have to…. ;) }but I still want to enjoy the season, and feel Fally {i don’t think that’s a word, but y’all know what i mean}.  Here is one of the ways I will warm my Fall season~

DSC07521 I’m cutting back on magazine spending too….so I’m so glad I keep most every copy of Southern Living, Southern Lady, Taste of Home, and Tea Time.  I went through my stash and pull together the Fall issues.  Even though I have read them before, I certainly have slept since what ever year it was and don’t remember what I have read and what I have SEEN, so it really is like getting a new magazine!

DSC07529 I’m not spending alot on baking my Fall favorites…not only does it cost lots of $$$$ it takes lots of time and I’m short on both this Fall, but I still want to TASTE the season~  Pre made Apple Cider from my local market, and  crisp European Spice Cookie do the trick in a inexpensive way, and a huge time saver too!

Notice my apple candle that will provide the SMELLS of the season…..bought brand new at a garage sale for $1.

DSC07526 I’m going to wrap up in a soft blanket, re-read my magazines and enjoy the Fall sesaon.

DSC07530 These are the best little cookies EVER!!!  The first time I ever had one was on a airplane in 1996.  I saved the wrapper and every Fall I would order these cookies from www.biscoff.com, until a couple years ago Krogers started selling them….now I just buy them there, and at $2.50 a pack…it’s a great Fall treat!

DSC07523 I’ve got plans for my weekend…they’re not big, but they’re perfect for enjoying the season!  I’m going to see, taste, feel and smell Fall this weekend, all with out leaving my home or spending a lot of $$$.   It’s going to be a warm Fall weekend for me!

What are some ways you are going to enjoy the Fall Season???

Here’s a list of few things I will do that won’t cost a dime…

1.open the windows

2.walk the dogs and enjoy the falling leaves

3.cook more warm Fall meals {okay, this will cost, but a lot less then eating out}

4.go fishing with my hubby {he’s gonna love that}

5.work on some craft projects…that have been waiting for me for months!

6.have a Fall picnic

7.go to the library, check out some new cook books or decor books

8.light the candles and relax

What are some more ways I can add to my list???????

Here’s a way to enjoy the season….Have you heard about the Fall Giveaway going on over at Kristen’s????

kristen It’s a Fabulous Fall Giveaway…so make sure you get over there and sign up!

I want to thank all of you that have wished me well on me going back to work!!!!!  Your comments and emails have meant so much!  I’ll be giving you a “work update” next week!!!

What ever way you choose to celebrate your Fall Season, I hope you enjoy it!  Blessings to you all!  NancyRosalina

Are You Southern?

There is something about the South that stimulates creativity in people, from our famous cooks, decorators, authors, writers, photographers, artists.  We do have our own way of thinking, living, talking, cooking…..I guess you could say…..we are a different people, but never let it go without being said , we are a blessed people!  We are blessed with our family heritage, our roots, our life long friendships, our country churches, our gorgeous  mountains, and our breathtaking seashores.  People travel from all over the world to get a glimpse of our southern lifestyle.  They want to taste our food.  They want to see how our ancestors lived and worked, and they want to visit our beautiful southern plantations. Bottom line,  they just simply want to be Southern!   So, with that being said….

Log Cabin, Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National ParkCades Cove…right here is the Great Smokey Mountains!

Can someone be Southern with out being born and  raised Southern?  I say, Yes they can!
Now, for me….southern is my nature….I was born into it.  I know No other way!   From making mud pies as a child, going to Southern Baptist Homecomings with dinner spread on the ground, swimming in the lake, and watching my Momma and my aunts can and put up the Summers harvest for the on coming Winter.

If you are born and raised Southerner….Thank God for it!!!

If you are not a born Southerner….I’ve got good news!!!!  You can still be Southern!!!  Just don’t ever tell anyone in the South where you are really from…..LOL ;)  If you have a love for the South and our Lifestyle….then that makes you Southern!  Because it is that ‘Love’ that you need to become a Southerner!

Be Thankful for who your are and Where you are from! And most important….Let God in your Heart!

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Everything we do takes ‘Love’!  We put a lot of Love into our cooking!  We love the way we talk!  And, we Love to wear our pearls to the gym!  Yes Ma’am!
