~The Perfect Sweet Treat For Summer~

Okay everyone, I got this recipe for this sweet treat from Rhoda over at Southern Hospitality. Talk about southern hospitality, this would do the trick. It was so easy and so good!! I made this today, I will make another one for July 4th! All it is~ angle food cake, vanilla instant pudding, crushed pineapple (drained). I Cut the cake in half, Rhoda cut hers into 3 layers, but mine was smaller, then mix pudding per directions on box and let set for a while in fridge, drain pineapple and mix with pudding, spread this mixture between layers and on top of the cake...let set in fridge for couple of hours....when ready to serve add sweetend strawberries and whipped cream, then the rest is history...lol;) Oh, Rhoda said, it's okay if the pudding oozes out of layers. I can't believe how easy and good this is....You all must try it...it's a winner! Thanks Rhoda!
Nancy

~Giveaway~

Now, on to something else.... Starting Monday, everyone who leaves a comment on any of my post will be entered in a drawing for a giveaway. The drawing will be on Friday, July 4th~ Only one name will be drawn. Don't forget to come back next week, and tell all your friends to come by also. The color I am posting with is a hint. Not that you need one~ lol;) Well, hope you all enjoy your Sunday, I will not be posting on Sunday...I will be listing Brighton on Ebay. I wil try to post a link to my ebay items next week for anyone who might be interested in Brighton. Blessings, Nancy

Kitty Bartholomew and Decorating Books

Good Morning! Well, the house work is finished and I am ready for a nice quite weekend. Yesterday was hubby's birthday and tonight we are celebrating with his family. Saturday, I am going to try to visit some yard sales and do some yard work....Hope you all enjoy your weekend!!

Now, on to other topics, yesterday I read some of the comments about HGTV on another blog, and some of you mentioned Kitty Bartholomew....Don't you just miss her something awful? I thought I would post about her book, Kitty Bartholomew's Decorating Style. I'm sure some of you already have it, but if you don't it is wonderful. I have several decorating books, but hers is one of my favorites! Her show was my favorite on hgtv! If you don't have this book, you can buy it from her website, http://kittybartholomew.com/ or on Ebay. You can also send her a email and let her know how much she is missed! The book features her home and other houses she has lived in and decorated. This book is chalked full of wonderful ideas, tips and projects! It's a must have for your decorating library. Here is just a few of the pictures. Enjoy! Nancy

~You should see how she can transform this living room to look totally different, with slip covers and accessories.~

One of Kitty's tips that I use all the time is ~Use what you already have~ you don't have to go out and spend money on new, just redo and reuse.

~This is a picture of one of my decorating libraries~ I have several all over my house, that way what ever room I am in, I can pick up a book and enjoy.

Finally, I hope I have left you with some Kitty inspiration, she really is missed by me anyway, I wish she had DVDs of her shows, but in the mean time I will enjoy her book. Nancy

The Light Of Home

Good Morning, Hope all of you are having a good week. This coming Thurs is my hubby's birthday, I will be posting celebration pics later. Other then, that I think this well be a normal week, what ever that is, you know what I mean? Well, I just love lamps, when I find one that is unique I have to have it. This is a little post about a few of my lamps. I love to turn them on at night, they make a house feel like a home. Hope you all enjoy. Nancy This is a hat lamp, I bought at a Home Show several years ago. It helps to light our guest room.
This is a one of my Tiffany lamps, my Mom bought this one for me at a garage sale for $20.00. It sits in the boys bathroom in front of the window, which is in the front of the house. It looks so pretty at night, from the outside. I need a taller table for it to sit on, right now it sits on top of some books, I am looking for a better table.
This is a little lamp, I bought at hobby lobby for my hubby. It sits in his office, on top of a CD stand.
This is a cute teapot lamp, I bought at Repeat Etc. , it's a little shop here in Knoxville, that you can take decorations and sell them on consignment, I think I already told about Repeat Etc in another post. I never come out of that store with out something. This little lamp sits in the sun room.
This is a teapot lamp that sits on my desk, in the kitchen . I think it came from hobby lobby also. You can see a few pics in the back ground of the boys with my niece Emily and one pic of Hubby, me and Emily. I will be doing a post all about Emily one day, she is one of the Joys of my life!!!!
OH, this lamp has been in my family forever!!! My mom used it in her living room, she passed it on to me last year and I have in the guest room beside the bed. I have no idea how old it is, but I am almost 40 and she had it way before I came along. It is one of my many treasures from my family. I will be posting about family treasures one day also.

This is a lamp my hubby bought for me at hobby lobby last year. He paid 35.00 for it. I have since seen it in a little shop here in Knoxville for $65.00. It sits in my kitchen.
Yes, I know, another teapot lamp, I do love teapots, I use to collect them too. I sold them all except for a few and I kept the teapot lamps and my teapot chair. This one came from Knoxville Soap and Candle Factory. It is one of the cutest little shops, maybe some day I will take you around town and show you all some great little places. This one sits in the sun room.
Another Tiffany Lamp. This one sits in my master bathroom in front of another window. It also came from a wonderful shop here in K-town.

This Bunny Lamp sits in the front living room, in front of another window, I told you I love to sit lamps in front of windows!!;) They always look so pretty at night. This one came from JC Penney.
This is a pretty lamp that sits in the hall way just outside the foyer. I have had it so long, I don't remember were I got it.....maybe Kirklands.....it just came to me! LOL:)
Finally, are you tired yet? :) This one sits in the great room, on the side of the stair wall. I do remember, it came from Kirklands. Well, that's all I'll post for now. Hope you all enjoyed my Lights of Home. How about posting some of your Lights of Home. I know, I would enjoy seeing some of your lamps. You all have some beautiful lamps, I'm sure. Enjoy your day, Love to you all, Nancy

I Found a Rooster

Good Afternoon everyone! Here in Knoxville there is a neat little shop called Repeat Etc. you can take your decorations that maybe your tired of or just don't use any more, what ever the reason, they will sell them on consignment. I take decorations in there several times a year, and most of the time I end up trading with them instead of taking cash....well, this week I went in there to pick up check and instead came out with this beautiful rooster. I have been looking a long, long time for one, I was so happy to find this one, I couldn't wait to get home with it. It is absolutely beautiful and HEAVY! I found a place right on the kitchen table for this bad boy, but I'm sure I will move him around. Do any of you move your decorations around and put them in different rooms or maybe just a different spot in the same room? I do, and for a few days it seems like I have something new, and sometimes it seems like it looks better in its new spot, surely I am not the only one out here that does that? Well, hope you all have a great day!Nancy

I was so worried about how to entertain all those teenagers, all I did was pull out a few card games and what a hit, they had a blast!! We couldn't get rid of some of them, they were at our house almost all weekend! Some of them spent the night last night and my husband took the guys fishing today.
